Last weekend I went on a tour to the lovely island of Skegness and we had a blast there. What a weekend! We travelled for 4 and a half hours and it was such a long journey. We arrived at Skegness at 9:00pm. We spent the whole of the weekend there and it was amazing. I was playing with a team called Wendover Juniors and we faced a lot of really tough teams as the North is stereotypically called ‘the hard part of the country’. It was my first experience on tour and it was a great feeling. We got down on the Friday and was playing our first group game on the next day at 3:30pm which was good as we didn’t crash out until 2 o’clock in the morning. Here are the lads chilling out before starting to get ready to play.
We were all very excited to be playing on the ground. All the matches played were quite a trek away as they were not on our site. It was a 15 minute drive to get to the playing ground. As we got there we began to warm up and get into gear making sure our football heads were on and we had left our night heads at the hotel. It was key that all the players were ready and had winning in their mind especially that we had just found out that our first game was against one of the top teams here, so we knew it was it was going to be a tough fought game. We ended up with a draw which we took happily even though we felt as though we had been robbed of the win. We ended up making it all the way to the semi-finals and it was a massive achievement that me and all the lads were very happy with. We sadly lost the semis 2-0 but we were still happy with how far we had made it. Amazingly, at the football presentation legend and footy star Kevin Keegan was there and we all got to meet him.
